Every time I begin to feel that the state of cinema is dismal, I realize how wrong I am. There has been a string of films recently that prove that the art of cinema is has good as it’s ever been.
The Art of the Steal is a documentary that explores the travesty that has befallen the most amazing post-impressionist and modern art collection in the world. The collection at issue is the Barnes Collection of Merion, Pennsylvania, a collection of hundreds of paintings by Matisse, Cézanne, Picasso, Renoir, and others, which all together total into the billions of dollars, assembled by Dr. Albert Barnes.
Michael Moore’s documentary raises some questions that every citizen should be investigating, whether Democrat, Republican, or Independent. Although there is a definite agenda present in this production, there is also and enormous amount of information presented that is intensely disturbing.
